Hylands House Ghost Hunt – £59

Hylands House is a grade II neo-classical villa situated within 574 acres of parkland, including an ancient woodland, grassland, ponds, lakes and formal gardens. It was built in 1730, and has had nine different owners. During the first world war the house was used as a military hospital. It was used as a headquarters by the SAS during the second world war, and the estate was a German prisoner of war camp. Since the war, the house was solely used as a family home for almost two decades, then was sadly left to ruin for a further twenty years, until it was purchased by the council for the grand sum of £1 and subsequently restored to its’ former glory.

Are you brave enough to join Fright Nights on a Ghost Hunt as we re-visit Hylands House for a one-off investigation? Our last event was held in 2014 and our medium reported eerie feelings in an incredibly haunted and atmospheric location! We don’t know when this offer will be available again so don’t miss out this time round.

Ghost Hunt at Hylands House includes:

  • Initial Briefing including information about fright nights, health and safety talk, and equipment talk
  • Mediumship walkround – who haunts tonight?
  • Psychic experiments including seances, glass divination and more..
  • Ghost Hunting Vigils in the dark with our medium, and using ghost hunting equipment.
  • Hot Drinks and Biscuits
  • Your chance to ghost hunt in a haunted location at night!

Rescued from ruin and steeped in history, this House is a fascinating and beautifully restored country house, dating back to 1730.

Built in 1730 as a modest red brick Queen Anne style house, it has changed and developed considerably throughout its history. Nine different owners have each stamped their own personality on the house, extending and remodelling according to their tastes and the fashion of the day.

It has spectacular rooms, ranging from the exquisitely gilded Drawing Room to the sumptuously ornate Banqueting Room. Ascend the magnificent Grand Staircase to the Repton Room on the first floor, which provides stunning views over the landscaped parkland. Next door is the Social History Room offering a variety of exhibits and explore the basement complete with butler’s pantry and wine cellar.

As well as looking the part, Hylands House has had its’ fair share of paranormal activity reported over time. Hylands House staff have witnessed a few unexplained encounters…

  • A man has been seen wearing a Victorian long coat and top hat, whilst carrying/jingling a set of keys on the landing of the first floor
  • A voice has been heard in the basement area, clearly warning the person to “Get Out!”
  • An angry young gentleman has been reported in the library and he doesn’t seem to like strangers in the house.
  • A young girl appears in the drawing room when the piano is played.
  • People feel as though they are being watched, making them feel uncomfortable.
  • A cook, and a lady have been seen in the ladies toilet down in the basement area, which used to be part of the kitchen. The remains of the old bread oven are still in place.

Fright Nights are really looking forward to re-investigating the location, and discovering which areas are the most actively haunted.
